The Brazilian Journal of Dentistry and Oral Radiology (BJDOR) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and integrity. The journal adopts rigorous procedures to prevent and address scientific misconduct, including plagiarism, data fabrication, duplicate publication, and unethical research practices. By submitting a manuscript to BJDOR, authors confirm that the work is original, represents their own contributions, and has not been published or submitted elsewhere. Ethical responsibilities apply to all participants in the publication process, including authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher.

Duties of Authors

Reporting Standards
Authors must provide an accurate, transparent, and complete description of the research conducted, together with an objective interpretation of its significance. Fabricated, falsified, or intentionally misleading information is considered unethical and will not be tolerated.

Data Availability and Retention
Authors may be requested to provide underlying data for editorial evaluation. When appropriate, authors should make data publicly accessible and must retain research data for a reasonable period following publication.

Originality and Plagiarism
Submitted manuscripts must be entirely original. Any use of previously published material, including text, figures, or ideas, must be properly cited or quoted. Plagiarism in any form constitutes serious ethical misconduct.

Duplicate or Concurrent Submission
Manuscripts describing substantially the same research should not be submitted to more than one journal at the same time or published in multiple venues without proper justification and permission. Such practices are considered unethical.

Acknowledgment of Sources
Authors must appropriately recognize the work of others and cite relevant publications that contributed to the reported study.

Authorship Criteria
Authorship should be limited to individuals who made substantial contributions to the study’s conception, design, data acquisition, analysis, or interpretation. All qualifying contributors must be listed as authors, while those with lesser contributions should be acknowledged.

Conflicts of Interest and Funding Disclosure
Authors must disclose any financial, institutional, or personal relationships that could influence the results or interpretation of the study. All sources of funding must be clearly identified.

Corrections and Retractions
If authors identify significant errors in their published work, they must promptly notify the journal and cooperate fully in issuing corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions when necessary.

Duties of Editors

Editorial Decisions
Editors are responsible for deciding which manuscripts are accepted for publication based on scientific merit, originality, relevance to dentistry and oral radiology, and importance to readers. Decisions must follow the journal’s editorial policies and applicable legal requirements, including those related to copyright and defamation.

Impartial Evaluation
Editors must assess submissions solely on academic merit, without discrimination regarding authors’ gender, nationality, ethnicity, institutional affiliation, or personal beliefs.

Confidentiality
Editors and editorial staff must treat all submitted manuscripts as confidential documents and must not disclose information to third parties except those directly involved in the editorial and peer-review process.

Conflicts of Interest
Editors must not use unpublished information from submitted manuscripts for their own research or personal advantage without explicit written consent from the authors.

Duties of Reviewers

Contribution to Editorial Decisions
Peer review supports editorial decision-making and helps authors improve the quality and clarity of their manuscripts.

Timeliness
Reviewers who feel unqualified to evaluate a manuscript or unable to complete the review within the requested timeframe should promptly inform the editor and decline the invitation.

Confidentiality
Manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential and must not be shared or discussed with others without authorization from the editor.

Objectivity
Reviews should be conducted in a constructive, objective, and respectful manner. Personal criticism of the authors is inappropriate, and evaluations should be supported by clear arguments.

Identification of Relevant Sources
Reviewers should alert the editor to relevant published work not cited by the authors and report any substantial similarity between the manuscript and previously published research.

Conflicts of Interest
Reviewers must decline to review manuscripts where conflicts of interest exist due to competitive, collaborative, institutional, or personal relationships with the authors or affiliated organizations.

The Brazilian Journal of Dentistry and Oral Radiology (BJDOR) follows internationally recognized ethical publishing standards and is committed to ensuring transparency, accountability, and trust in scientific communication.
