Peer Review Process at the Brazilian Journal of Dentistry and Oral Radiology (BJDOR)

Scientific manuscripts submitted to the Brazilian Journal of Dentistry and Oral Radiology (BJDOR) undergo a rigorous peer review process to ensure the quality and integrity of published research. Here's an overview of our peer review process:

  1. Blind Review:
Manuscripts are subjected to a double-blind peer review, where the identities of both the authors and the reviewers are concealed from each other. This ensures impartial evaluation of the manuscript based solely on its scientific merit.

  2. Reviewer Selection:
At least two external reviewers, selected based on their specialty and expertise relevant to the study's topic, evaluate each manuscript. Reviewers with any potential conflict of interest that may influence their judgment are excluded from the review process.

  3. Conflict of Interest Policy:
Reviewers are required to disclose any conflicts of interest that may compromise their ability to provide an unbiased evaluation. If a conflict of interest is identified, reviewers must recuse themselves from evaluating the manuscript.

  4. Timely Review:
Reviewers are expected to provide their evaluations within a suggested period of 10 consecutive days. In cases where reviewers require additional time, the Editor-in-Chief may intervene to expedite the process, including the possibility of replacing the reviewer if necessary.

  5. Editorial Decision:
The opinions and recommendations provided by the reviewers are considered by the Editor-in-Chief in making the final decision regarding the manuscript. Authors are promptly notified of the editorial decision, enabling them to proceed with the next steps in the editorial process.

  6. Transparent Communication:
Throughout the peer review process, transparent communication is maintained between the editorial team, reviewers, and authors. Any queries or concerns raised by authors or reviewers are addressed promptly and professionally.

  7. Continuous Improvement:
We continuously strive to enhance our peer review process to uphold the highest standards of scientific integrity and publication ethics. Feedback from authors, reviewers, and readers is welcomed and utilized to refine our procedures.

At the Brazilian Journal of Dentistry and Oral Radiology (BJDOR), we are committed to fostering excellence in dental research through a rigorous and transparent peer review process. By upholding stringent evaluation criteria and ethical standards, we aim to contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the field of dentistry.
