Ethics in Publishing
The Brazilian Journal of Dentistry and Oral Radiology (BJDOR) upholds strict principles of ethics and scientific integrity to ensure that the entire editorial process is conducted with responsibility, transparency, and adherence to internationally accepted best practices. The journal’s policies are informed by recommendations from the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
All submitted and published research must follow ethical standards appropriate to the study design and methodology, including:
Human and animal research
Studies involving human participants must include prior approval from an appropriate research ethics committee and, when applicable, documented informed consent. Research involving animals must comply with national and international animal welfare regulations.
Author conduct
Authors are expected to submit original, properly documented work free from plagiarism or data manipulation, and to disclose any conflicts of interest, funding sources, or institutional support relevant to the study.
Reviewer and editor conduct
Reviewers and editors must treat manuscripts as confidential, disclose any potential conflicts of interest, and evaluate submissions impartially, objectively, and solely on scientific merit.
Corrections, retractions, and editorial notices
The journal maintains formal procedures for issuing corrections, retractions, or expressions of concern whenever significant errors, inconsistencies, or ethical issues are identified after publication.
These measures are intended to ensure transparency, accountability, and trustworthiness throughout all stages of scientific communication at BJDOR.
